Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the presidential race on Friday.

According to the Daily Beast, the independent party candidate revealed the news in Arizona, where he also endorsed Donald Trump.

“I throw my support behind Donald Trump,” Kennedy said. For the last few days, many have speculated he would end his run for the White House due to poor poll numbers and odd stories about his past. This week, Kennedy reportedly filed paperwork to remove his name from the presidential ballots in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

RFK Jr. thought he would have had a fighting chance if there weren’t so many things stacked against him. “In an honest system, I believe that I would have won the election,” he said, per the outlet. He also discouraged his supporters from voting for Kamala Harris.

Trump later showed his gratitude to Kennedy. “We just had a really nice endorsement from RFK Jr,” Trump said in Nevada. “I want to thank Bobby. That was nice. Really, really nice. A great guy—he’s respected by everybody.”

Rumors have been swirling that RFK might secure a cabinet role if he withdrew from the elections and backed Trump.

One of the strange stories to surface about Kennedy came earlier this month when he confessed to leaving a dead bear cub in New York City’s Central Park in 2014 and setting up the scene to look like a cyclist hit the animal. The incident led to a police investigation that remained unsolved.
