Artificial intelligence is getting out of hand.

Local 12 reports that police arrested a 13-year-old Florida boy after he inquired to ChatGPT, “How to kill my friend in the middle of class?”

According to the news outlet, an app called Gaggle installed on school devices alerted a resource officer about the student’s AI inquiry. Gaggle identifies troubling behavior and blocks inappropriate content.

Police reportedly also received an alert and arrived at the middle school to chat with the teen. Authorities said the boy claimed he was “just trolling” an annoying friend. However, he was later arrested and taken to jail.

A video showing the teen in handcuffs and getting booked has since been making the rounds online.

“Another ‘joke’ that created an emergency on campus. Parents, please talk to your kids so they don’t make the same mistake," police said in a statement.

In May, the family of an Arizona man used AI to create a video of him addressing his killer in court. In 2021, Christopher Pelkey was fatally shot by Gabriel Paul Horcasitas following a road rage incident.

Pelkey’s brother-in-law and sister presented the AI-generated video as part of the victim impact statement. The clip featured Christopher’s likeness, and though it was bizarre and evidently looked fake, his family suggested it offered closure to the case.
