Florida Couple Had Throats Slashed in Fatal Knife Attack While Biking Home

A couple was found dead in Daytona Beach, with police saying they were “using their bicycles to get home after participating in Bike Week festivities.”

A married couple were found dead with their throats slashed in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Per a press release from the local police department, officers received a call about the bodies at 1:57 a.m. on Sunday from a man. First responders discovered 48-year-old Terry Aultman and 55-year-old Brenda Aultman, with the man face-down on the ground and the woman face-up in a grassy area. Both had suffered multiple stab wounds and lacerations, and the Daytona Beach residents were declared dead at the scene.

“We found two people possibly dead…there’s blood everywhere,” a 911 caller said, per WESH.

The police statement said the Aultmans were “using their bicycles to get home after participating in Bike Week festivities.” The annual event runs from March 4 to 13 this year and is known to bring roughly 500,000 people and $75 million of income to the area.

Officers found two bicycles near the couple’s bodies, which the two had been riding and are now being used as evidence. Authorities are also speaking to the man who reported the incident and a woman who was a bystander as well.

“We will spare no expense and leave no stone unturned in order to solve this case,” DBPD Chief Jakari Young said in a statement. “I assure you that our detectives are doing all they can to bring justice to the loved ones of these victims.”

“This is probably one of the most vicious and gruesome incidents that I’ve witnessed in my 20 years,” he also said. “We can’t rule out that this may be totally random, but if it is totally random, the person responsible has to be deranged.”

Police don’t believe the attack was a robbery and say the suspect was wearing light-colored pants and carrying a backpack. DBPD released a video of the person of interest:
