Eric Adams has made sure to remind his former constituents that he’s no longer the mayor of New York City.
On Friday (January 23), after it was reported that a big snow storm could be on its way to the Big Apple, the one-term mayor took to X to share a message with the city's residents.
"Big storm on the way," he began his post. "Reminder: I don’t run City Hall anymore. Yelling at me on Twitter will not speed up snow removal. Prepare, check on seniors, send me your snowmen [photos], and show some love to DSNY, NYPD, and FDNY doing the heavy lifting."
According to The Weather Channel, New York City could see as little as eight inches of snow, or as much as 18. Despite the interruption this could cause, New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has a plan, which he shared with the outlet on Friday.
"We're going to take every single step that we can," Mamdani said. "We're going to use every single tool in our toolbox. And frankly, it comes back to the incredible men and women we have working for this city."
That toolbox includes Department of Sanitation workers brining the highways and major roadways, salting the streets, and activating 700 salt spreaders "as soon as we see two inches of snow."
"Like you said, there's a range of snow we could see in the city. We want to be prepared for every possibility," Mamdani added. "We want to let you know that no matter what it is, we're going to be prepared."
In 2025, Mamdani landed a historic win in New York City’s mayoral race, making him the city's youngest mayor since 1892, and the city's first Indian American and Muslim mayor.
