Bipartisan Letter Addressed to Fauci Asks for Answers on Dog Experiment

A bipartisan-backed letter—though largely Republican—demands to know more about an alleged animal experiment that Fauci is running out of a lab in Africa.

House members are demanding Dr. Anthony Fauci explain why he’s allegedly running an experimental drug test on dogs in Tunisia, Africa.

The Hill reports that both Republicans and Democrats have signed the letter, spearheaded by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.). She penned the note to the National Institutes of Health, after White Coat Waste Project—a nonprofit and right-leaning advocacy group—said it discovered Fauci has purportedly been “infecting dozens of beagles with disease-causing parasites to test an experimental drug on them,” the outlet writes.

Mace calls the procedures “cruel” and a “reprehensible misuse of taxpayer funds.” While the letter is bipartisan, it’s backed by a majority of Republicans. White Coat Waste claims that a laboratory in Tunisia experimented on 44 beagle puppies, and even removed their vocal cords so that researchers’ work wouldn’t be interrupted by barking.

“Our investigators show that Fauci’s NIH division shipped part of a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagles and lock their heads in mesh cages filled with hungry sand flies so that the insects could eat them alive,” White Coat Waste said, per The Hill. “They also locked beagles alone in cages in the desert overnight for nine consecutive nights to use them as bait to attract infectious sand flies.”

In late August, data showed that the U.S. could see as many as 100,000 more deaths by the beginning of December with our current immunizations against the virus. He’s still pushing to boost America’s overall vaccination rate, which is currently at 57.8 percent.

“What is going on now is both entirely predictable but entirely preventable,” Fauci told CNN in August. “We know we have the wherewithal with vaccines to turn this around. … we have around 80 million people in this country who are eligible to be vaccinated who are not yet vaccinated. We could turn this around and we could do it efficiently and quickly if we could just get those people vaccinated.
