We Spoke to the Woman Behind the Viral #SameBae Story About Exposing Her Cheating Lover

The captivating #samebae saga has taken over Twitter. And it’s indirectly schooling us on the art of being petty.

Over the weekend, Twitter user @AyanatheDiva began posting about the incident that ended her three-year relationship with her boyfriend. It all started earlier this week when the 26-year-old hairstylist and entrepreneur discovered she and a new co-worker had been seeing the same guy for about a year. Yes, a full year. But the insanity didn’t stop there. Rather than lose her cool and confront her man right away, Ayana the Diva came up with a plan to catch him completely off guard.

“Not the first time I've been cheated on. And I ALWAYS react first, and ask questions later. When you do that you usually don't get the answers you need,” Ayana told Complex. “I decided to just let her do all the talking. I wanted to get everything I needed then decide how I should proceed. This was honestly the best way for me. Sad I had to bring her in the middle of it though.”

Ayana told Complex she was never mad at the other woman, and did apologize after the story went viral.

“I was honestly just venting [on Twitter],” she said. “I have threads of different things all the time on Twitter but this one obviously was the most interesting lol.”

She continued: “I mean guys have cheated on me in the past. But I'm older now. I'm a college graduate and a business owner. I feel like I have grown up so much since my past relationships. I have learned so much about myself and my limits. I chose me this time.”
