Michigan authorities are searching for a home that seemingly vanished late last year.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the 12-foot-by-28-foot cabin was removed from its lot sometime between Nov. 18 and Dec. 16, when it was last seen. The owner of the small structure told law enforcement he didn’t know how it disappeared or why anyone would want to steal it.
“It’s kind of a weird situation,” Trooper Matthew Scott told the outlet Wednesday. “At this point, the cabin is definitely not where it’s supposed to be. There are different motives, but that’s a detail we are trying to uncover.”
Michigan State Police say the cabin was located off County Road 571, and had been occupied by the owner for several years before he decided to move. Investigators claim they have identified potential suspects, but remain tight-lipped to ensure the probe isn’t compromised. They also say it may be difficult to locate the home, as it was possibly taken months before it was reported stolen.
The cabin has a brown exterior with a white door, white trim, and an orange-ish roof. Anyone with information on the home’s disappearance and/or whereabouts is urged to contact the MSP Houghton Lake Post at 989-422-5101.
“You don’t see this happen too often,” Trooper Scott said. “[But] anything is possible.”
