Before it was devoted to single handedly crushing Hillary Clinton’s chances at the presidency, WikiLeaks had other preoccupations, like proving that the U.S. government was in fact interested in monitoring UFO activities around the world. The Huffington Post revealed that in 2015, WikiLeaks released over half a million diplomatic documents from the U.S. State Department dating all the way back to 1978, which detailed the country’s monitoring of all things extraterrestrial.
Grenada Prime Minister Eric Gairy—a known UFO enthusiast who made concerted efforts to establish a UN committee devoted to the investigation of UFOs—was of particular interest to the United States. One cabal reveals just how close Gairy came to seeing that committee to fruition.
“The General Assembly invites interested member states to take appropriate steps to coordinate on a national level scientific research and investigation into extraterrestrial life, including unidentified flying objects, and to inform the secretary-general of the observations, research and evaluation of such activities,” it reads. Unfortunately, Gairy was overthrown in 1979 and plans for the committee fell through.
However, that might change if Hillary Clinton becomes president. Based on previously leaked emails from members of her inner circle, Clinton is super into UFOs, and plans to declassify UFO-related documents if she wins the White House. She was also reportedly “very disappointed” when Jimmy Kimmel didn’t ask her about aliens during a November interview. Will she revive the UN’s plans for a UFO committee if she’s elected? That would certainly get the coveted conspiracy theorist vote.
