Learn About Consent From These Adorable Animated Genitals

When it comes down to it, consensual sex is easy to understand: Only yes means yes. But as Amber Rosepointed out on Tyrese Gibson and Rev. Run's talk show, It's Not You, It's Men, consent is still a difficult concept for some people to grasp. In large part, that's thanks to the society in which we live. "That's how society raised all of us," Rose said, admitting she herself is a former slut shamer. "Society teaches us to be that way. You see a woman that's like dressed provocative, and you're just like 'she's loose.'"

But consent doesn't have to be difficult — or awkward. In fact, the goal of a series of new videos from a nonprofit called Project Consent is to teach people how simple it is to understand. To illustrated the concept, the organization used a cast of animated human body parts that are a little bit cute and a little bit disturbing. "We wanted to talk about consent frankly, and we felt like it was unnecessarily to use symbolic replacements in these discussions," Sara Li​, a member of Project Consent, toldBuzzfeed. "Consent shouldn’t be difficult or hard to talk about; we shouldn’t need to use tea or anything else to explain what is or isn’t inappropriate."

Per Li's attitude, the videos are pretty blunt: Consent isn't consent unless someone says "yes."
