Guy Ruins Plane Proposal By Puking After Popping the Question

Tip: If you’re going to pop the question to your significant other while you’re flying in a plane, it’s probably not a bad idea to pop a couple Dramamine tablets before you do it.

Unfortunately, Darrell Hamilton Jr.—a video editor for the ABC station KFSN-TV in Fresno, California—opted not to go that route when he asked his girlfriend Rheanna Lopez to marry him earlier this month. Lopez had only flown on a commercial airplane once, so Hamilton planned to take her up on a small private plane before flying over a sign he had made and asking for her hand in marriage. And everything was going according to plan until he started to pull out the ring.

Lopez was obviously shocked and had a "is this really happening?!" look on her face once she realized what was in the box Hamilton was showing to her. But within seconds, he had the same exact look on his face, too, as he realized that he was about to lose his lunch. And then… well, you know what happened next.

Hamilton may have temporarily ruined the moment. But amazingly, he didn’t ruin his chances with his post-proposal upchuck. Lopez said yes to him, and the couple shared this photo on social media later:

Hamilton also spoke with ABC News and let everyone know that it was motion sickness and not his nerves that caused him to throw up on the plane.

"It had nothing to do with being nervous," he said. "I got sick from being inside the plane. It was a really small plane and the pilot was helping me look for the sign I made her. The tilting kind of messed with my stomach. I couldn’t hold it much longer. I just tapped her on the shoulder. I didn’t even ask her. I just gave her the ring."

On the plus side, Hamilton and Lopez clearly have the whole "in sickness and in health" thing down already. But this is going to be quite the story for the grandkids one day. You can check out the entire proposal in the video above.
