A Canadian man found out the hard way—you can still get busted for drunk driving even behind the wheel of a child’s toy.

According to a release from the Prince George RCMP in British Columbia, Canada, officers came across the man, dressed in a grey t-shirt, jean shorts and sandals, driving the toy down a main street in Prince George on September 5.

A spokesperson for the department says, "This was during the morning commute, around 9:00 a.m., and the streets were very busy at the time. Our police officer conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle to assess what was happening."

Cops say in speaking with the man, they determined he may have been under the influence and was driving the toy with a suspended license.

During the investigation, the release states the man provided officers with two breath samples—both over the legal limit. He was arrested for prohibited driving and issued a 90-day driving prohibition.

The release states, "Any vehicle on a roadway that is powered by anything other than muscular power fits into the definition of a motor vehicle and requires a licensed driver and insurance."

It continues, "While it might seem to some to be an inefficient use of police time to pull over a driver in a toy car, the risk the driver was creating to other motorists on the road who were forced to go around him, coupled with the risk to himself as other drivers are not in the habit of looking for toy cars on the busy road, was enough to warrant police attention."

The man, identified by CBC as Kasper Lincoln, is set to appear in court in December.

Comments in a Facebook post from the RCMP provided some comedic relief to the potentially dangerous situation. One person chimed in, "So my 4 year old needs a drivers license now?" While another said, "Probably saved his life from a scrape on the elbow cmon how fast those things really even go?"
