Krispy Kreme customers and employees impacted by the company’s 2024 data breach are running out of time to claim money from a newly approved class action settlement that could pay eligible victims as much as $3,500. The deadline to submit a claim is June 22, 2026, and the case is drawing renewed attention as more details emerge about the scope of the cyberattack and the sensitive information that may have been exposed.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the settlement stems from a November 2024 security incident in which unauthorized actors gained access to Krispy Kreme’s internal systems. The breach affected roughly 161,676 people, primarily current and former employees and, in some cases, their family members. Exposed information reportedly varied by individual but included names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, driver’s license details, financial account information, and certain health or biometric data.
Under the terms of the $1.62 million settlement, people who can document identity theft, fraud, or other out-of-pocket expenses tied to the breach may qualify for reimbursements of up to $3,500.
Those without documentation can still apply for an estimated cash payment of around $75.
Eligible claimants are also entitled to one year of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
The breach became especially notable after the Play ransomware group allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack and said it had obtained hundreds of gigabytes of confidential data.
Krispy Kreme has denied wrongdoing as part of the settlement agreement, but the company agreed to resolve the litigation to avoid prolonged legal proceedings.
Settlement administrators say individuals who received breach notifications from Krispy Kreme are likely eligible to participate. According to the official settlement information, anyone wishing to exclude themselves from the class action or file an objection must do so by June 6, 2026.
Those who remain in the settlement but fail to submit a claim form by June 22 will not receive a monetary payout, even if they qualify for credit monitoring services.
Claim forms can be submitted online or mailed to the settlement administrator in Portland, Oregon. Assistance is also available through a dedicated hotline established for affected individuals.
