A Florida man has become the latest rider to turn a fast-food drive-thru into an unlikely social media moment after video showed him arriving at a Chick-fil-A on horseback.
Felipe Delamora posted footage of himself riding his horse, Gitano, through a Chick-fil-A drive-thru in South Florida on March 21. The clip, filmed from a camera attached to Delamora’s glasses, quickly spread online after capturing the surprised reaction from employees working the lane.
Unlike recent headlines involving a Wyoming farmer being turned away from a McDonald's drive-thru because of his horse-drawn wagon, Delamora’s visit ended with laughs, photos, and a discounted drink.
According to Delamora, the stop was unplanned. He said he had been riding home when he decided to swing through the drive-thru for a drink.
“I was on my way home back from a ride on my horse, and I got thirsty,” Delamora said, per People. “So I stopped through the Chick-fil-A drive-through and had an amazing interaction with the employees.”
The video shows Gitano walking up to the ordering area as employees try to process what they are seeing. One worker, identified as Mike, greeted the pair enthusiastically.
“What’s up, y’all? How are we doing today?” Mike said as Delamora approached. When another employee asked the horse’s name, Delamora introduced him as Gitano.
The interaction only became more chaotic when a car began pulling toward the same lane. “Nobody better come in this lane,” Mike said, watching as the driver chose the other side instead. Afterward, he pumped his fist and celebrated the clear path.
Delamora told employees he only wanted a drink, eventually ordering a Sunjoy. Mike then joked about how to categorize the customer in the system.
“What do I even put as his description … horse?!” he said.
“Put ‘Other,’” a coworker replied as the group laughed.
After taking the order, Mike grabbed a walkie-talkie and announced to the rest of the restaurant: “Guys, we have a horse.”
By the end of the encounter, one Chick-fil-A employee even asked to take a photo with Gitano for her daughter, who loves horses.
The moment landed differently than another recent drive-thru encounter involving horses. Last month, Powell, Wyoming farmer Allen Hatch said he and his Percheron draft horses, Coal and Onyx, were initially told they could not return to a McDonald’s drive-thru after arriving in a road-legal wagon.
