Carnival Cruise Line is doubling down on a new strategy for travelers who would rather trade splash zones and family game nights for casino time and late-night parties. The company announced this week that it will replace a series of canceled Carnival Firenze sailings with four invite-only, adults-only cruises departing from Long Beach this fall.
Per The New York Post, the new voyages will sail between October 12 and November 20, 2026, aboard the Carnival Firenze, the same ship that had 11 previously scheduled departures scrapped earlier this year.
Unlike Carnival’s standard offerings, these trips are part of the line’s SEA program—short for “Sailings Exclusively for Adults”—and will only be available to guests 21 and older who receive a targeted invitation from the company. The itineraries are expected to include stops throughout the Mexican Riviera.
Carnival Cruise Line first introduced the SEA concept in 2025 to create a more upscale, adult-focused experience without completely rebranding itself as a family-friendly cruise company.
The program promises expanded casino access, themed nightlife, upgraded dining options, and a quieter onboard atmosphere. According to the cruise line, the idea is to offer “a more relaxed environment to recharge” while still keeping the brand’s signature emphasis on entertainment.
The adults-only pivot comes just weeks after Carnival Cruise Line informed passengers that 11 previously scheduled Firenze departures would no longer take place because of changes to the ship’s itinerary plans.
Guests who had already booked those cruises were offered the chance to transfer to another sailing at the same fare or take a full refund.
Carnival also included onboard credit for travelers who chose to rebook by late March.
The Carnival Firenze has been one of the company’s more distinctive ships since debuting in 2024 with its “Fun Italian Style” theme inspired by Florence. Carrying more than 5,000 passengers, it has largely been used for shorter West Coast trips out of Long Beach.
But Carnival Cruise Line appears to be positioning the ship for something different ahead of its eventual eastward move, with plans already in place to relocate the vessel to Miami in 2027 and later to New York.
The new sailings also arrive at a time when Carnival Cruise Line is reshaping other parts of its business. The company recently announced its first-ever African port visits beginning in 2027 and has expanded departures from East Coast cities, including Miami and New York.
