The search continues in San Antonio, Texas, for Camila Mendoza Olmos, a 19-year-old college student who disappeared early Christmas Eve, leaving her family and friends desperate for information about what happened.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to ABC News that Camila was last seen around 7 a.m. on December 24 outside her home in the 11000 block of Caspian Spring in northwest Bexar County.
Surveillance video from that morning shows a person believed to be Camila standing near her vehicle, apparently searching through it for an unidentified item before the footage cuts off.
Investigators say Camila likely left the residence on foot. Her car remained at the home, and authorities believe she took only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license. Her phone was later found inside the house with a dead battery, a detail that deepened concern among her family.
Camila was last seen wearing a baby blue and black hoodie, baby blue pajama bottoms or shorts, and white shoes. Her mother told deputies that Camila often went for early-morning walks, but she became alarmed when her daughter did not return within a normal time.
Those closest to Camila say her disappearance came without warning. Her childhood best friend, Camila Estrella, said they had spoken the night before to make plans to go shopping for dresses together. Estrella recalled their final exchange: “She said, ‘Bye Cami, I love you.’”
Family members describe Camila—known to loved ones as “Cami”—as warm, dependable, and deeply connected to those around her. “She was someone that was just full of love,” Estrella said, adding that they spoke every day.
Camila’s aunt, Nancy Olmos, said the holiday was immediately overshadowed by fear and confusion. “This was not a Christmas for us. It is a nightmare,” she told local media. Relatives who were traveling for the holidays rushed back to Texas to assist in the search.
Camila, a student at Northwest Vista Community College, is considered “possibly endangered,” authorities said.
