Adult film star Scott Finn, whose legal name was Rhett Messerly, died on November 23 at the age of 27.

Per People, his family confirmed his passing but did not confirm a cause of death. A viewing and funeral service were held on December 4 in North Ogden, Utah, where relatives, friends, and members of the local community gathered to say goodbye.

As news of his death spread, attention turned to a brief social media update Messerly shared several months earlier. In June, he posted on X after a long stretch of silence, telling followers that he hadn’t checked in “in a while.”

In the same message, the adult film star reflected on the challenges he had faced, writing that the previous year and a half had been a “hard life.” The post offered no other specifics about his "hard life," however.

While Finn was known professionally through his work in adult entertainment, his family chose to focus on who he was long before that chapter of his life. Born on February 2, 1998, he grew up in Utah and attended Weber High School in Pleasant View.

According to the obituary, he was well known among friends and classmates for being approachable, social, and deeply accepting of others. His relatives described him as someone who naturally drew people in and made them feel seen.

The memorial also highlighted his energy and love of activity. Sports played a significant role in his early years, with football and baseball among his interests.

At home, he was known for spending hours practicing trampoline tricks in the backyard. Competition extended into family life as well; his obituary noted that even card games could turn intense when siblings were involved.

Beyond athletics, Messerly was remembered for his generosity and awareness of the people around him. His family wrote that he often went out of his way to help women who needed support, whether that meant digging a car out of snow, providing food, or simply making sure someone felt safe.

In adulthood, the family described him as hardworking and curious, someone who enjoyed cooking and taking on practical projects. He is survived by his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandparents, and extended family members.

The obituary closed with a statement reflecting both loss and faith: “Rhett is missed dearly by his family and all those who knew him. We find some comfort in knowing his pain here is over, and he rests with his Heavenly Father again.”
