YouTuber Govert Charles Wilhelmus Jacob Sweep and his friend Ties Granzier were arrested after trespassing at Area 51. The 21-year-old and his 20-year-old accomplice were reportedly over three miles into the off-limits area when they were apprehended and questioned by authorities. They both agreed for a search of their vehicle, and shortly after officers discovered footage of the two individuals trespassing on off-limits government property.

The revelation that the two were arrested comes just one day after the original organizer behind the infamous "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop Us All" event decided to cancel the plan. Originally the event was scheduled for Sept. 19-22, although the organizers explained they canceled it because they feared it could be a "humanitarian disaster" on the scale of Fyre Festival.

The YouTuber and his friend were not too far from what is actually known as Area 51, which has become famous for eliciting countless conspiracy theories related to aliens. Just before he was arrested, Granzier posted a selfie on Instagram telling his followers he was headed to Area 51.

Sheriff's office officials toldBuzzFeed News the two had been visiting with the intent of attending the nixed Area 51 event. Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee added that he's still expecting a number of people to test their luck on the originally planned dates, and has subsequently requested additional law enforcement agencies for assistance.
