Far-right political pundit Tomi Lahren, who seemingly thrives off controversy, has been forced to apologize after asking Kamala Harris an offensive question on Twitter following Wednesday's Democratic debate. "Kamala did you fight for ideals or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown?" she tweeted.

Harris previously dated former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown in the mid-'90s, a topic a lot of far-right critics of Harris like to bring up. But it's used as a smear by those critics, more of a misogynistic takedown that has no relevance to the debates at hand. Almost immediately after her tweet went live, colleagues of Lahren's at Fox reportedly expressed their disappointment at the jab.

CNN reporter Oliver Darcy confirmed as much on Twitter, revealing that one Fox employee said, "It makes me sick that I work for the same company as Tomi Lahren." Another said that the tweet was "unacceptable."

Regardless, Lahren doubled down on her comments, posting an article in which Brown admitted to dating Harris. "I didn't make this up," she tweeted. "Willie Brown admitted it. The truth hurts."

The Trump superfan and Fox Nation host has used these kinds of comments in regards to Harris before, previously suggesting that she "dated her way to the top" during an appearance on Final Thoughts earlier this year. It didn't take long for her to backtrack on the controversial tweets, however, apologizing by the time morning rolled around on Thursday. "I apologize for my comment on Kamala's personal relationship," she said. "It was the wrong choice of words. There are many other things to take her to task for and I will stick to those."

Perhaps the threat of having her place at Fox in question motivated her to give a half-hearted apology.
