The Tuscaloosa Police Department in Alabama has asked for help tracking down a man who broke into a gas station dressed as Scooby-Doo.

"Hey gang! We need your help solving a mystery," a post on the police department's Facebook page said alongside several surveillance camera photos showing the thief inside the gas station. "This individual in a Scooby-Doo suit broke into the Quick Stop on Highway 82 in Duncanville. Officers responded to the store after the security alarm activated at 3:45 a.m. Sunday."

The suspect walked off with cash and coins, but as the police department noted, "no snacks." Police have described the suspect as a white male, approximately 5'9". Police are asking for people to submit any clues to help them "unmask this villain."

The comments on the post, however, have proved to be pretty much useless to authorities, with many using the opportunity to crack jokes about the thief's disguise.

"It actually wasn’t Scooby, it was old man Smithers disguised as Scooby Doo," one comment read, while another added: "Maybe lay out some Scooby snacks and stay really still he will then come to you!"

A third comment brought the rest of Mystery Incorporated into the mix, writing: "Have you interviewed Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy to see if they were waiting for Scooby in the Mystery Machine?"

One comment that got a lot of attention was one about the big reveal that always happened at the end of a Scooby-Doo episode. "When they take his mask off, it will be Fred, then that mask coming off will reveal Shaggy, but for the last twist you never saw coming, under it all is the carnival owner.. 'And he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling TPD officers,'" the comment read.
