OnlyFans CEO Says the Platform Has Paid $25 Billion to Creators Since 2016

During a talk at Bloomberg Tech in London on Tuesday (Oct. 21), OnlyFans CEO Keily Blair shared some metrics on the platform and said that it has paid out $25 billion to creators since its founding in 2016.

As reported by Bloomberg, Blair sat down for a chat and shared that the company has paid billions of dollars to creators on the platform, sex work or otherwise. “There’s not very many tech companies that can talk about creating wealth for others rather than just profiteering, essentially,” she shared. “For us as a company, that makes us very proud. We talk to our content creators and we understand the difference that it’s made to their lives, the way that they can continue to challenge themselves or build their fanbase or try something new, be a bit disruptive.”

Blair also addressed the misconception that OnlyFans is an American company, even though it’s actually based in and was founded in the United Kingdom. “I always joke we’re a British company with a very American personality, and so everyone kind of assumes that we’re American,” she said, which prompted a question from interviewer Caroline Hyde on whether most of their business comes from America. “The majority of our revenue comes from America,” she replied. “That’s our single biggest user base. But there’s a healthy number of British people.”

Blair also stressed that while much of the content on the platform is pornographic, it’s not the only content that creators are using the platform for. She was joined on stage by cricket player Tymall Mills, who recently partnered with the platform. He remarked that many athletes are looking for other ways to make money, which echoes what WNBA player Liz Cambage said when she was recently asked if she’s made more money on OnlyFans than she did playing basketball.

“You know the WNBA salary, [it’s] not that hard to make more money doing anything,” she said when asked by a TMZ paparazzi if it’s true she made more from OnlyFans than she did during her entire WNBA career. “I feel like women gotta make more money playing the sport they love.”
