Man Sentenced to 375 Years for Murder of Woman and 2 Children Over Facebook Post

31-year-old Jeremy Arrington has been sentenced to 375 years in prison for the 2016 killings of a woman and two children in New Jersey over a Facebook post.

31-year-old Jeremy Arrington has been sentenced to 375 years in prison for the 2016 killings of a woman and two children in New Jersey.

Per NBC News via the Associated Press, Arrington was convicted of three counts of murder and attempted murder, burglary, criminal restraint, and weapons charges last month. On Friday, Judge Ronald Wigler hit Arrington with three consecutive life sentences, and consecutive sentences on the other charges he was convicted of. Wigler described Arrington’s actions as “perhaps the most horrific, heinous, cruel, and depraved murders this county has ever seen.”

According to prosecutors, Arrington broke into the Newark home of a family in November 2016. He then tied up multiple people inside and stabbed them with knives. 8-year-old Aerial Little Whitehurst and 11-year-old Al-Jahon Whitehurst were killed by Arrington, who also fatally shot 23-year-old college student Syasia McBurroughs, who had been visiting the family. Three others, including a 29-year-old woman, a 13-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old girl were wounded by Arrington.

Authorities said that a young girl was able to escape and called the police from a closet. It is believed that he broke into the home and killed his victims because one of them had shared a Facebook post from police that named him as a suspect in both a shooting and sexual assault. Under New Jersey law, Arrington will not be eligible for parole until 281 years into his 375-year sentence. He did not take the stand at his trial, but his defense attempted to use an insanity defense.
