Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens after she repeatedly accused his wife, Brigitte Macron, of being a man.

As reported by CNN, the French President, 47, and his wife, 72, filed the 22-count defamation lawsuit against the controversial right-wing political pundit in Delaware Superior Court. The couple, who married in 2007, accused Owens of "a relentless year-long campaign of defamation against the Macrons." Earlier this year, she shared a video on YouTube titled, Is France's First Lady a Man?

Owens has repeatedly shared the unfounded claim on social media, describing it as "likely the biggest scandal in political history" in a post on X, formerly Twitter. She also later shared a series on YouTube titled Becoming Brigitte, which expands on her belief that the First Lady isn't a woman. The lawsuit also accused her of trying to capitalize on the conspiracy theory by producing merchandise that repeats the claim.

The Macrons have also accused Owens of accusing the President of being a CIA asset. They noted that she repeatedly falsely claimed Brigitte was born Jean-Michel Trogneux, the name of her brother.

"These outlandish, defamatory, and far-fetched fictions included that Mrs Macron was born a man, stole another person’s identity, and transitioned to become Brigitte; Mrs Macron and President Macron are blood relatives committing incest; President Macron was chosen to be the President of France as part of the CIA-operated MKUltra program or a similar mind-control program; and Mrs Macron and President Macron are committing forgery, fraud, and abuses of power to conceal these secrets," reads the lawsuit.

The couple is looking for punitive damages with the lawsuit and accused Owens of causing them "substantial economic damages."

Instead of backing down after the news of the lawsuit broke, Owens responded by doubling down. "I will be coming for this wig today. Stay tuned," she wrote alongside a photo of the Macrons.
