An armed Utah man who reportedly made threats against President Joe Biden was fatally shot by FBI agents shortly before Biden’s anticipated visit to the state.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at 6:15 a.m. while special agents attempted to serve Craig Deleeuw Robertson search and arrest warrants at his residence in Provo, just south of Salt Lake City, according to the FBI. Robertson was armed at the time of the shooting, according to a source who spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

Robertson allegedly posted online threats on Monday after learning that Biden would be coming to Utah, suggesting he needed to clean off his sniper rifle. Robertson had also reportedly made threats to other politicians including New York Attorney General Letitia James, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Biden flew out to Utah on Wednesday ahead of a visit to Salt Lake City on Thursday, where he'll speak on expanding benefits for veterans.

No further details were made available and the investigation is ongoing.
