Passengers were left rattled when they spotted a rodent on a recent Spirit Airlines flight.

As reported by TMZ, a video circulating on social media captured a rat running along an overhead bin, with its feet and snout visible through an illuminated glass panel.

Passengers jokingly called it a “super rat” as they filmed the ordeal, which took place during a three-hour flight seemingly from Dallas, Texas, to Los Angeles, California.

In a statement shared with TMZ, Spirit Airlines said, “We are aware of the video and are taking steps to address this matter."

For this writer, it feels like the skies have been quiet lately—at least in comparison to the number of airplane stories that went viral in 2023.

However, the coast isn’t completely clear. You might recall the all-out brawl at Spirit’s check-in desk at the Baltimore airport in May. Or a woman who was forcibly removed from another Spirit flight after experiencing a bizarre meltdown on board and likening herself to George Floyd.

Here’s hoping for less chaos in what should be the friendly skies as we approach the year-end holiday travel season.
