It’s hard to remember a two-day stretch in NBA Playoff history that’s produced as much drama as we’ve seen the past two nights. Monday night we got the double-OT Game 1 classic between the Spurs and Thunder, and Tuesday we were gifted an incredible fourth quarter comeback by the Knicks.

Wednesday night surely can’t live up to the combined standard of Night 1 and Night 2, right?

We’re about to find out as the Spurs and Thunder will play Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals tonight in Oklahoma City. Below, we’ll dish out a betting preview of the clash.

Game 2: San Antonio Spurs at Oklahoma City Thunder

  • Date/Location: Wednesday, May 20 at Paycom Center
  • Start time/TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock
  • Series score: Spurs lead 1-0
  • Point Spread: Spurs +7.0 (-110) at Thunder -7.0 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Spurs +200 at Thunder -245
  • Total: Over 217.0 (-110)/Under 217.0 (-110)

Oklahoma City had no answers for Victor Wembanyama on Monday night as Wemby torched the Thunder with 41 points, 24 rebounds, and 3 blocks. “The Alien” became the youngest player in NBA playoff history to record a stat line of at least 40 points and 20 rebounds.

OKC tried to get creative defensively with Wemby, but to no avail. Mark Daigneault had the 6-foot-5 inch Alex Caruso and the 6-foot-5 inch Jalen Williams fronting the 7-foot-4 inch Wembanyama at times, but it proved to be a fool’s errand.

Chet Holmgren, who is 7-foot-1 and typically takes on the Wemby challenge, drew some ire from some pundits for his Game 1 performance. Holmgren scored just 8 points in 41 minutes in Game 1, and he looked hesitant to shoot, putting up just 7 shot attempts.

There is now very good reason to think the Spurs might have OKC’s number. San Antonio won four-of-five meetings in the regular season and now lead the best-of-seven WCF 1-0.

Basketball bettors have loved the Spurs this postseason as San Antonio is an NBA-best 9-3-0 against the spread. OKC is now 5-4-0 ATS in the playoffs.

The Spurs were a +6.5 underdog for Game 1 and covered with the outright win. The spread is even heftier for Game 2 at Fanatics as the Thunder are -7.0 favorites, with the idea that OKC will come out with guns a’blazing and revenge on its mind.

OKC only lost 18 games in the regular season, but surprisingly lost back-to-back games on five different occasions. The first time came on Dec. 23 and Dec. 25 when it lost back-to-back games against these same Spurs. OKC also lost back-to-back games in early January (Suns and Hornets), late January (Pacers and Raptors), early February (Spurs and Rockets), and to close out the regular season (Nuggets and Suns).

The Over/Under for Game 2 has been set at 217.0 at Fanatics. That is down from Game 1, where the number was set at 219.5.

The two teams easily surpassed that total considering the game went to two overtimes. They combined for 237 points. That said, when regulation was over in Game 1, the Spurs and Thunder had only scored a combined 202 points. That is certainly coming into play here with this Game 2 number.

So far in the postseason, seven San Antonio games have gone Over the total and five have gone Under. Seven OKC games have gone Over in the playoffs and just two have gone Under the number.

As for player props, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s points Over/Under for Game 2 has been set at 27.5 at Fanatics Sportsbook. SGA scored 24 points in 51 minutes played in Game 1. Holmgren’s points O/U has been set at 13.5.

Wemby’s points O/U has been set at 24.5 for Game 2. De’Aaron Fox, who missed Game 1 with an ankle injury, is questionable to play in Game 2 but his props are available at Fanatics at the moment. His O/U is 14.5 with juice on the Under.
