The best defensive player in the NFL is on the move as the Cleveland Browns are set to trade defensive end Myles Garrett to the LA Rams. Cleveland will get back two-time Pro-Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first round draft pick, and other draft compensation, according to reports.
The Rams had already been the Super Bowl odds favorite before news of the trade broke. LA had been +750 to win it all, but the Rams are now +550 at Fanatics Sportsbook. The Browns’ Super Bowl odds went from +20000 to +25000 at Fanatics.
With the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium this coming February, the Rams are clearly pushing all of their poker chips to the middle of the table. Earlier this year, Rams GM Les Snead traded a 2026 first round pick, a 2026 fifth round pick, a 2026 sixth round pick, and a 2027 third round pick to the Chiefs in exchange for former First Team All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. Snead also signed cornerback Jaylen Watson in early March.
Those moves propelled the Rams up the Super Bowl odds board. LA held the same +950 Super Bowl odds as the Seahawks prior to Snead revamping his secondary.
Myles Garrett Defensive Player of the Year odds
Garrett is coming off one of the greatest seasons of all-time by a defensive player. The 30-year-old wrecking ball posted a record-breaking 23 sacks in 2026-27. Garrett won the Defensive Player of the Year award unanimously. He also won the award in 2023-24.
Garrett had already been the DPOY odds favorite at Fanatics Sportsbook before the move, as he was +450 earlier today. He is now +425.
Garrett is +25000 to win NFL MVP. Only two defensive players in the history of the NFL have won league MVP. The Giants’ Lawrence Taylor (1986) was the last defensive player to win it. Former Vikings defensive tackle Alan Page (1971) was the first defensive player to accomplish the feat.
With Garrett going to the Rams, he will join forces with the reigning NFL MVP, Matthew Stafford.
Verse, who tallied 35 solo tackles and 7.5 sacks this past season, is +2500 to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2026-27.
Rams AFC West odds
The Rams’ AFC West odds also moved on Monday following the news of the deal, albeit slightly. Sean McVay’s club had been +105 to win the division on Monday morning at Fanatics Sportsbook. By Monday afternoon, they were +100.
The AFC West is shaping up to be a powerhouse of a division as it houses the Rams and the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks. Seattle won the division this past season with a 14-3 regular season record. Seattle is +200 at Fanatics to repeat as division champion.
San Francisco is also projected to be one of the better teams in the NFC as it currently has -185 odds to make the playoffs.
