DeAndre Hopkins’ best days in the NFL are behind him, but the free agent wide receiver still has plenty to offer a team. There will likely be many suitors for his services over the course of the late spring and early summer. Below, we will take a look at the latest Hopkins free agency rumors and find potential landing spots for the five-time Pro Bowler.
Hopkins played in 17 games for the Ravens last season, catching 22 balls for 330 yards and 2 touchdowns.
He was traded from the Titans to the Chiefs the year prior, and he helped Patrick Mahomes and crew get to a Super Bowl.
DeAndre Hopkins to Chiefs rumors
Hopkins’ brief time in Kansas City was mostly positive as he played in 10 regular season games, catching 41 passes for 437 yards and 4 TDs. He had a decent showing in the Chiefs’ 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Eagles that season as he had a touchdown catch and a 2-point conversion catch.
Hopkins heaped praise on the Chiefs organization this off-season, specifically Andy Reid as Hopkins labeled the coach as “the GOAT.”
The Chiefs certainly have a need at wide receiver, given that Rashee Rice is once again in legal trouble.
DeAndre Hopkins to Texans rumors
This would be quite the nostalgia signing by the Texans.
Hopkins fueled rumors of a reunion with the Texans in March when he was asked on X, by a fan, if he would consider signing with Houston.
“Houston is always home!,” Hopkins replied.
The Texans don’t necessarily have a need at wide receiver as they have Nico Collins and what should be a healthy Tank Dell. Houston also recently signed free agent WR Jha’Quan Jackson, though Jackson figures to be mostly a special teams contributor.
DeAndre Hopkins to Vikings rumors
Another potential reunion on Hopkins’ radar is with quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray enjoyed the best two seasons of his NFL career in 2020 and 2021 in Arizona with Hopkins as his primary target.
Murray is now with the Vikings, and Hopkins says that he and the QB remain close.
“Kyler, that’s my boy, man. Kyler is like family,” Hopkins told TMZ in March. “I talked to Kyler throughout the year last year. I talked to him after his situation in Arizona. So Kyler is like family, man. I will always embrace that journey with him.
“If Kyler needs me, he knows I’m there. If the Vikings need me, they know I’ll be there.”
The Vikings could use more wide receiver depth, although they may have already found their WR3 in free agency. Minnesota signed WR Jauan Jennings to a 1-year deal earlier this month.
Other teams
There are plenty of big name receivers still available in free agency or on the trading block. The first big domino will likely fall early next week when the Eagles are expected to trade WR AJ Brown.
That could set up a game of wide receiver musical chairs as the likes of Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, Keenan Allen, and Hopkins look for landing spots.
Teams likely to be in the mix for a wide receiver in the coming weeks include the Commanders, Saints, Colts, Falcons, Rams, Patriots, and Bills.
